Elsies is full of cottage charm. Oak beams and panels, inglenook fireplace, stone floors and walls sit alongside the comforts of modern living with warm floors, heating, wifi and entertainment, both digital and analogue with games, crafting and yoga kit all provided.

There’s no getting away from the fact that Elsies is secluded, so the Kitchen has all you need to cook a simple brunch or a gourmet meal. Deep forest green cabinetry, warm limestone floors ensure you’ll feel at home to cook, dine and while away hours in this space.

Luxury Bathing

The opulent downstairs bathroom is a real treat. reclaimed copper panels line the walls behind the iron roll top bath . Indulge in a  rainfall shower, burnished copper taps set in oak. Light the candles and incense and wash away all your cares in this little sanctuary.

Perfect nights sleep

Choose between two bedrooms. The garden room is bright and airy with doors to the terrace and views over the garden and can be arranged as a twin or king. Mustard walls, vintage finds with boho lighting makes this room a real haven..

Up the little staircase is the cosy oak framed bedroom made for two. Enjoy the charm of  cottage windows valley views,  chandelier and ancient leather ledgers repurposed as bedside tables.

Cook outdoors

The oak lined terrace gets the best of the sun. With views across the wild garden. Dine outdoors from breakfast to supper.  Cook up a pizza or BBQ feast,  light the fire pit to take the chill off and listen to the sounds of nature.

Hot tub

A wood-burning hot tub is tucked into the hillside for complete privacy.  Soak under the stars in the midnight hours with the smell of wood smoke, fairy lights, bubbles and the hoot of an owl to keep you company. A perfect retreat from the world.

Two unique Bedrooms

Our Malvern Hills cottage has two bedrooms. A garden bedroom is downstairs and accessed from the hallway. It had French doors to the terrace and is a lovely sunny room. It can be made as twins or a king and has touches of old and new.

Upstairs is an oak framed room with chandeliers, little cottage windows and comfy king sized bed. Light pours in from the south westerly windows, Floral blinds at the windows and leather bound books as bedside tables give a nod to the past. This room feels cosy and protected from the world.

Indulge in the Bathroom

Choose between a large walk in rainfall shower or long soaks in the the Roll top bath. Warm underfoot, the stone floor runs throughout. Hints of green with crackled glazed deep green tiles in the shower. The reclaimed Verdigris copper panels line the wall behind the roll top bath, with bronze taps sunk into oak beams.  The large vintage sink unit has space and oval retro mirrors are space enough for your beauty routines. You’ll find a heated rail with fluffy towels robes and hot tub towels as well as organic toiletries, ensuring you can indulge in style and space.

Oak and marble Kitchen diner

The country kitchen is a mix of rustic and modern. Underfloor heating, marble tops and copper finishes sits alongside malvern stone walls, oak posts and deep green units. The Large retro fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer makes for practicality. Pad around barefoot with heated stone floors, grabs coffee and hunker down in the perfect dining corner with benches and velvet dining chairs. Electric hob & cooker with Denby crockery, glasses for all occasions and all the utensils you need to cook up a storm

Cosy living room with inglenook fireplace

The lounge in the malvern stone lined living room has two comfy sofa’s focused around the Woodburner set in a huge inglenook fireplace. With a basket of logs, and everything you need to get that fire roaring. The heather painted shelving has a collection of books, games and space for your doggie crate (if you’re bringing your pooch. The TV will stream TV and there is wifi – but Elsie’s cottage is about switching off and turning off the world. A real retreat from the world.

Outside Dining on the terrace

The terrace in our Malvern Hills Cottage is a perfect spot for soaking up valley views. East al fresco, Cook over fire with our charcoal BBQ, fire pit and pizza oven.  The zinc table chairs, sail and festoon lights make the perfect secluded space to dine and watch the sun go down.

Wood-fired Hot tub

Tucked into the hillside is the secluded wood-fired hot tub. Set to the side of the terrace sheltered from the world by oak sleepers. Fairy lights add a special ambience, we’ll heat the tub ready for your arrival, but heating it isn’t hard, and the smell of woodsmoke in the air whilst the bubbles sooth your tired limbs makes the perfect end to any day.

Wild wooded garden

The rambling terraced garden is wild and steep. There are flowers, trees and shrubs growing in abandon with a lawned area at the top with loungers to soak up the sun. Shaded by huge Scots Pines and those gorgeous views you’ll love the little spots to sit and ponder in this garden.

Travel & parking

Elsie’s is a little trickier than most to find, but that’s the price to pay for seclusion. The easiest is to download the what three words app, our address on there is what three words. 

If you are using Google, the postcode will not take you to the cottage. Take Chase End Street to ‘white leaved oak’. There is a notice board and stocks in the heart of the hamlet. Turn back down the hill and take the rough track on the left.  Pass a red brick bungalow on the right and go through the 5 bar gate, the track looks very rough but is passable in most cars – just take it steady.  As you reach the top of the track, Elsie’s is on the right, please park on the gravel drive just past the house behind the gate.

Eating

Pubs – Farmers Arms Birtsmorton (our local) for good beer and pub food. The Swan Inn Hanley Swan – for good food and a lovely garden. The Inn at Welland – for gastro pub food and lovely setting. Ledbury offers wood fired pizzas, curry, Thai and great fish and chips. For fine diners try Verzon House – for cocktails, Chase Gin and Herefordshire beef or The Cottage In the woods, for amazing views.  The Nest as the home of the scotch egg company and wonderful rustic charm. Days out

We recommend:

• Eastnor Castle with deer park, home of Land Rover off-road Experience as well as gardens and a maze.
• Eastnor Pottery – if you fancy throwing. pot.
• The Forest of Dean, for Puzzlewood, Sculpture trail, synods Yat and more
• Ledbury offers a great independent high street, whilst Upton-Upon-Severn is a lovely river town with plenty of music festivals from Blues, to folk.
• Just ten minutes drive is the Three Counties Showground home to RHS spring show as well as county agriculture shows, music and winter glow events as well as monthly giant flea markets.

Activities

If you’re the outdoors type, Elsie’s is perfect. Walk the Malvern’s from your front gate, or bring bikes to explore lanes or the many wooded tracks.
Close by The Wye valley and Forest of Dean offer some superb walking and mountain bike trails, as well as downhill tracks for the more adventurous.

The river Wye is perfect for a paddle either by canoe or on a paddleboard.

You can also try guided wild swimming on the wye or go paddling on the Avon at Twynning.
