It’s the perfect seaside retreat for couples, families, or dog-friendly holidays.Wake to the sound of the sea, from one of three bedrooms, take a morning dip, whilst kids jump waves and your dog chases along the sands. Beach days don't come easier than in this.
You’ve bagged the best table in the village, to laze over long brunches on the terrace, cook-up tasty BBQ feasts, pick up a fish supper from one of many restaurants and raise a toast to the setting sun. Snuggle round the fire-pit and listen to the ebb and flow of the tide.
In the darker months, winter brings raging seas so cosy up on window seats by a crackling fire as foam topped seas crash over the sea wall.

A Porthleven original
Anchor Cottage, is an original Cornish gem complete with sash windows and turreted storm porch. Window seats carved into granite walls are the perfect spot to watch tides ebb and flow keeping you mesmerised for hours. A crackling fire adds a warm glow to evenings snuggled on squishy sofas with a good film.
The rustic dining table, bench and wishbone chairs, make for informal brunches, cosy suppers or evenings of feasting, with the flicker of fairy lights and the accompanying waves.
The Kitchen
Tucked at the back of the cottage the kitchen is equipped with everything you need for preparing and serving meals any time of day, and all the modern conveniences styled with cottage charm. There’s even room enough for the dog to bed down and the inevitable family clobber that seaside trips demand.
A rear lobby houses laundry facilities and room for coats and shoes and a convenient cloakroom beyond.
Luxury Bathing
A scandi-style bathroom, with chevron tiles, warm underfoot is fitted with a walk in power shower, enough for two is perfect for washing sandy toes. Teak cabinetry houses a generous basin, we’ll add organic toiletries, fluffy towels all add to the luxury of this bathroom.
Let the waves lull you to sleep
Three bedrooms sleep up to 5 people (+cot) In this gorgeous seaside haven. Two offer incredible sea views, with a king and double bed respectively, whilst the rear bedroom has the flexibility of offering a twin or king bed. All three are styled with a soft pallet of blues, sandy yellows and pinky hues to reflect the landscape. Rich velvet throws, driftwood headboards and linen soft furnishings add texture and richness in simple yet inviting bedrooms to rest your weary head after a day of frollicking on the beach.
Dine Outdoors with Sea views
Laze on the sea facing terrace witnessing the landscape change with the tide as Cornish life bustles by. Sip a morning brew after a morning dip or wander on the beach - just a few steps away. Dine al fresco, with a BBQ feast or cook up a wood-fired pizza with one of our handy kits. Pick up a treat from Porthleven and tuck in, knowing you have the best table in town. As dusk falls, light the smokeless fire-pit, stretch out on teak benches with a blanket, and toast marshmallows as the last of the sun dips beyond the sea wall.
Parking
Right next to the cottage is your own private parking space. So no lugging your bags and all the inevitable seaside clobber after a long journey.

- How many does it sleep? Anchor cottage Sleeps 5 + a cot
- How many bedrooms are there? Three Bedrooms, one king, one double, one twin/king
- Are there sea views? Yes two bedrooms have sea view along with the lounge/dining room and the outside terrace.
Bathrooms
- How many bathrooms are there? - one full bathroom with a large walk in shower, there is also a downstairs toilet
- Is there are bath? No Anchor cottage hasn't a bath, unfortunately .
- Do you include towels?Yes we provide a large towel hand towel and face towel.
- Are toiletries provided? Yes we offer organic toiletries - Body wash, shampoo and conditioner as well as hand soap.

- What cooking facilities are provided? Anchro cottage has an Electric cooker hob and oven along with a microwave.
- Is there much fridge freezer space? Yes, we provide a generous freestanding retro fridge with freezer compartment and an under counter fridge.
- Is there a dishwasher? Yes a dishwasher is fitted
- Is there a coffee machine? We have a kettle, cafetière & milk frother, and include the ground coffee.
- Is it well equipped for cooking? Yes, All the utensils you need including blender, whisks, toaster and smoothie maker, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, serving bowls

- Is there a washing machine and dryer? Yes both a washer and dryer are in the utility
- Is there an iron and board? Yes iron and board and drying rack for airdrying your swimming costumes
Children
- Do you allow Children? Yes we welcome children to the cottage.
- Do you have a travel cot? Yes along with a baby pack with booster seat & baby bath for little ones.
Dog Friendly
- Are you dog friendly? Yes we welcome one dog to Anchor cottage. We welcome one dog to the cottage, occasionally two if the number of people staying is under four.
- Is porthleven dog friendly? Absolutely, the beach is open almost all year, many pubs and restaurants welcome dogs, and you'll be sure to meet plenty of people out and about with their dogs.
- Do you charge for a dog? Yes we charge £25 to cover additional cleaning.
- Do you provide any facilities for a dog? yes we include a crate, bed, and bowls for your dog. The utility is a closed space, perfect for bedding down at night.
- What restrictions do you have on dogs? We cannot accept dogs that are on heat or likely to chew or damage furnishings. Dogs cannot be allowed on sofa's or beds.
- Is there any outside space for my dog? There is a terrace at the front, which is enclosed but has no grass.
- Are there good walks nearby? Yes the southwest coastal path passes the front door with walks to Loe bar and a large sandy beach on your doorstep.
Lounge diner
- Is there a real fire in the cottage? Yes we have a wood-burner and supply a basket of wood, kindling, firelighters and matches.
- What seating is there in the lounge? We have two very comfy Loaf 2 seater sofa's and window seats
- Is there are TV and can I stream on it? Yes we have a streaming TV so you can access your favourite shows and apps.
- Is there Wifi? Yes we have full fibre to the Cottage
- What dining space is there? We have a large rsutic table with chairs and bench to sit at and a sea view.
- Are there window seats? Yes there are window seats in the lounge diner, and bedrooms.
- What are the interiors like? The cosy lounge with dining space, is typical of a fishing cottage, lined in granite, beams and sash windows. The decor is simple pale blues and greys with hints of pink.

- What is included in a stay? Basket of wood provided along with kindling, fire lighters
- Do you provide a hamper? Yes a we provide a loaf of bread, milk, a bottle of wine ,ground coffee, tea and sugar as well as a few treats on arrival.
- Do you cater for food allergies? Yes let us know and we can amend the products provided to allow for food allergies and intolerances.
- Are there any other hampers you offer? Yes we offer a breakfast hamper and BBQ hamper as well as a Pizza making kit, just add them to your order when booking.
Terrace with sea view
- Is there an outdoor dining space? Yes a table and chairs with umbrella is on hte terrace offering amazing sea views along with bench seating around the fire-pit.
- Do you have a fire pit? yes a smokeless fire-pit is on the terrace.
- Is there a BBQ? Yes a Ceramic BBQ which uses charcoal is provided along with tools.
- Is there a pizza oven? We provide a pizza stone to use in the ceramic BBQ.
- Is there a hose? Yes the rear courtyard has a hose to wash down your dog, wetsuits or bike.
Parking
- Is there parking? yes the cottage has it's own Private parking space next to the cottage.
- How many cars can park there? Just one, there is alternative street parking on the road
Finding us
- Where is Anchor cottage? The cottage is on Cliff Road Porthleven, which is on the Lizard peninsula on the tip of Cornwall.
- What is the best route? Take the A30 down to Cambourne West - Porthleven is 10 miles from A30
- Can you get there by public transport? Yes it is possible, take a train to Penzance and a bus U4 runs every hour to Porthleven. Alternatively take a Taxi from Penzance
- How do I find the cottage? Drive through the village, turn right onto harbour road, round the headland, pass the clock tower, the cottage is ahead set back with its distinctive storm porch.

Fantastic fish and chips, pub classics at the Ship Inn. Kota kai for Japanese. Amelie’s and Harbour Refuge for bistro. Landed for fish takeaway. Corner Deli for Pizzas & lunch time treats. Twisted Currant for breakfast. Vegan cafe for breakfast and lunch. Weekly Market/Deli and Pengethley’s for all your ingredients as well as fresh fishmonger.

Visit
St Ives lies just across the coast with plenty to explore and incredible beaches. Praa sands for a lovely local beach. St Michael’s Mount at Marazion. Helford river Daphne du Maurier country lunch at the Shipwright arms. Penrose estate - National trust gardens and beaches.
