Cornish luxury cottage by the sea

Anchor cottage, Porthleven

Looking for a traditional Cornish cottage with sea views? Anchor Cottage in Porthleven is  just steps from the ocean, offering sweeping views of the Cornish coast and a charming interior full of vintage character. It’s the perfect seaside retreat for couples, families, or dog-friendly holidays.Wake to the sound of the sea, from one of three bedrooms, take a morning dip, whilst kids jump waves and your dog chases along the sands. Beach days don't come easier than in this.

You’ve bagged the best table in the village, to laze over long brunches on the terrace, cook-up tasty BBQ feasts, pick up a fish supper from one of many restaurants and raise a toast to the setting sun. Snuggle round the fire-pit and listen to the ebb and flow of the tide.

In the darker months, winter brings raging seas so cosy up on window seats by a crackling fire as foam topped seas crash over the sea wall.

About

A Porthleven original

Anchor Cottage, is an original Cornish gem complete with sash windows and turreted storm porch. As always Anchor cottage has everything we need. We were greeted with beautiful flowers and a hamper of goodies. The beds are king size and very comfortable. The location is wonderful right opposite the beach. The patio is great for sitting out with a glass of wine while watching the waves. We absolutely love the cottage and can't wait to go there to spend Christmas.

From the moment I unlocked the front door the cottage felt warm and welcoming. The decor throughout was superb, made even better by the vases of fresh flowers in the kitchen and the dining area. The welcome hamper was full of goodies (including an unexpected bottle of wine in the fridge!). The sofas and beds were extremely comfy; the linen and kitchen appliances were of the highest quality. The location couldn't have been better - a sea view from all of the front windows. What more can I say - I didn't want to leave!!

What can I say but WOW. Lovely location couldn’t get any nearer than we already were to the sea. Absolutely lovely accommodation, spotlessly clean, they havnt skimped on anything. Everything was Good quality. The kitchen had every appliance you could ever want in a kitchen. We Had trouble getting telly to work but I think that was a bit of us and a bit of the internet we had very wet stormy weather while we stayed which didn’t help, but because the cottage was so cosy we weren’t that bothered. Our host left us a lovely hamper and a voucher to use in the deli which we thought was a nice touch. Our car was too big to park by the side of the house, but this wasn’t an issue as we parked up the road easily. I would definitely recommend anchor cottage to anyone it was perfect.

Anchor Cottage is situated right opposite the beach in Porthleven. Great for wave watching from the windows. Great for our dog who loved just crossing the road and running on the beach. The Cottage is very snug and comfortable. Because we enjoyed spending Christmas there the owners Charlotte and Stephen arranged for a beautiful Christmas tree and fairy lights to decorate the very cosy lounge. Up stairs there are 2 double rooms, one with a king size bed and one with a double bed. A third bedroom had twin beds all very comfortable. All together a fabulous place to stay. No faults and no problems. Deserves to be rated 12 out of 10..

This is the most gorgeous cottage with an amazing location right on the beach almost. The hosts had left us gorgeous treats over and above the normal welcome pack; as it was in the run up to Christmas there was a beautifully decorated tree and lots of logs for the woodburner and candles- everything had been thought of to make the stay cosy and enjoyable. The decor is beautiful - the beds and bed linen were fabulous. We just LOVED it. Porthleven is a great little village with shops, pubs, restaurants and delis - a cute artisans’ market and lovely beach and harbour. It’s a great base for exploring. Needless to say we’ll be booking again. 😉

Anchor Cottage is simply the prettiest south facing cottage in Porthleven, situated just above the beach on the south-west coast path and just outside the harbour with it's wonderful mix of independent shops and eateries that are a foodies dream. The cottage is beautifully decorated throughout with comfortable beds, immaculate bathroom and a cosy log burner lounge. Our highlights were the circular walk to Penrose Estate returning along the coast path or beach, visiting the numerous delicious eateries in Porthleven, wave watching from The Ship and going to sleep to the sound of the sea … simply perfect. We’ve had the most restful and enjoyable stay and can’t wait to return next year. Thank you so much Charlotte and Steve for letting us stay in your enchanting cottage by the sea. Another glorious week at Anchor Cottage. Thank you to Charlotte and Steve for sharing your wonderful holiday home. The location can't be beaten in Porthleven as far as we are concerned, being virtually directly on the southwest coastal path and the beach. Lying in bed with a cup of tea in the morning, listening to the waves crashing on the beach and watching the surfers and paddle boarders is very special. The cottage is beautifully decorated and well kitted out with everything you need for a mix of self-catering and eating out at the many foodie offerings in the town and it is brilliant to have a car parking space! We have already booked again for next year and can't wait to return! Judi & Geoff Brighton, June 2023

What an absolutely beautiful location. The cottage was the most highly appointed Airbnb we have stayed at. The welcoming log fire after a day of travelling to the scenic villages. Rustling up appetite satisfying meals in the kitchen was a real pleasure. Charlotte and Steve made our party feel welcomed and their communication was very quick. We will hopefully be back for future stays at this beautiful cottage in an amazing location. A big thank you.

We absolutely loved our stay at Anchor Cottage for a multitude of reasons. The location is stunning, right opposite a sandy beach and with sea views from almost every room. We were lucky because although it was February the sun was bright and warm and we were able to watch dolphins from the terrace while enjoying a sundowner. The decor is stylish, rustic and incredibly comfortable and the owners had thought of literally everything to make our stay a pleasant one. The generous welcome pack of was thoughtful and very useful. We would definitely stay here again.

A gem of a place to stay and switch off! Beautifully styled interior with quality soft furnishings, beds and bedding. Everything you could want is within walking distance. Stunning views of the sea and the sound of the waves was wonderful. Lovely dog friendly village. If you are staying with a dog you will find it much easier using the back door so you can rinse those sandy paws etc in the yard rather than coming in through the sitting room. It was so cosy we were turning the heating down - a few logs in the burner for the evening was enough to keep the whole cottage more than comfortable!
