Elsie's accessibility

Elsie's cottage can be found up a track on the side of Ragged stone hill at the southern end of the Malvern Hills. HR8 1SE is the postcode but we advise using what 3 words address:


The track is drivable in most cars, no need for a 4 wheel drive.

There is a large gravelled area by the cottage for parking behind a five bar gate.

To access the house there is a paved path with 2 steps down to the front door.

Parking is not shared with anyone else.

Travelling to Elsie's

It is possible to take a train to either Ledbury or Great Malvern station and then a taxi to the property.

From the cottage there are various off road walks through woods and access to the hills.

The cottage is very private, with little noise apart from birdsong and the odd dog walker and horse rider.

There are no restaurants or pubs within walking distance.  We can provide additional  hampers for breakfast, BBQ or pizza making as part of your stay.


Two steps  lead from the path to the front door. The door is a standard width 80cm and opens inwards. There is a step and threshold into the hallway.

The pathway leads round to the rear of the property where there are double French doors off  the patio which lead into the lounge. These doors have a  low wooden threshold.

There are also French doors at the rear of the property that lead into the garden bedroom. There are two steps up to these doors from the patio.

Elsie's garden bedroom


There are two bedrooms at the cottage. Both sleep two people.

The Garden bedroom - this is accessed from the hallway and has double French doors with two steps down to the rear terrace.

The bedroom can be made up as twins or as a super king. The floor is wooden with a rug. There is a floor standing mirror and chest of drawers. Wall lights and sockets are by each side of the bed.

2nd bedroom

The upstairs bedroom is accessed via a narrow winding staircase which leads up from the lounge. There is a king bed,  chest of drawers and two windows which look out over the gardens. A wall mounted mirror.

The bedroom is in the eaves so the roof does restrict head hight in places.

We can supply non feather bedding if needed.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen leads on from the hallway and is accessed though a wide opening with one step down.

There is a worktop mounted hob, and an under counter oven.

There are also a microwave, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, washing machine and coffee making facilities. Crockery is stacked on high open shelves and utensils in under counter drawers and cupboards.

The dining table seats 4 with a bench and two upholstered armless chairs.

The bathroom leads off from the kitchen on a level tiled floor.

The doorway has a wooden door which opens inwards.

The bathroom is fitted with underfloor heating, a roll top bath, and a walk in shower with glass partition.

The toilet is wall hung with a flush mechanism in the panel behind the pan, along with a wall hung toilet roll dispenser.

There is a wall mounted shaving mirror and an oval angled mirror also wall mounted.

The room has sloping ceilings which restrict headroom at the eaves.

The sink is inset into a chest of drawers, with hot and cold tap.

Towels, face cloth and robes are supplied for each guest along with toiletries.

The lounge leads on from the kitchen through a wide opening and a step down onto a quarry tiled floor with a large rug.

There are two comfy sofas with low arms, a coffee table, and large inglenook fireplace with wood-burner.

We provide all fire starting equipment and a generous basket of wood for your stay.

The TV connects to all streamed services.  Please note that on occasion wifi is not the fastest and the mobile signal at the cottage is very poor to non-existent.  We suggest connecting to the wifi for calling purposes and using what's app.

There are stairs leading to the upstairs bedroom from the lounge and also a French doors leading from the lounge out onto the terrace.

There is a bookcase with games and books as well as an activities crate with yoga and sketching kit, flower press and binoculars to watch the wildlife and for star gazing.

In the corner is a little cocktail table with shaker, stirrer and sauces to use.


At the rear of the cottage is a very private south facing terrace with limestone slabbed floor.

Table and chairs are available to sit and enjoy the view along with a sail shade and festoon lights. There is  plenty of space for a dog and children too.

There is a fire pit, gas BBQ and wood fired pizza oven to cook outdoors.

The terrace is also accessible from the lounge through double French doors.

There is one step down to the hot tub from the terrace and also a path around the side of the property which leads to the front door.

The hot tub is set into the side of the hill, access around the tub is narrow.

There is a pedestrian gate by the front entrance with two steps up to it, this leads onto grassed area in front of the property boundary.

Hot tub and garden

The hot tub is at the rear of the property, set to the side of the terrace.

One step leads down to the hot tub. To enter the hot tub there are two wooden steps.

The hot tub is wood fired. The wood burner is accessed at the side at ground level.

Wood and fire starting equipment is left by the hot tub. We will heat the tub for your arrival on the first night.

The garden is split into a level grassed area by the parking with sun loungers, and the remaining garden is steep sided with narrow gravelled tracks and steps which leads to a levelled area covered in bark with additional seating.

Who would enjoy Elsies

We would welcome anyone to Elsies cottage to enjoy the seclusion of living in such an idyllic position.

For those looking to escape the over load of digital life, or who have sensory issues and who enjoy outdoor living and nature this is a perfect spot. A little bit of calm in a busy world.

Those in wheelchairs may find the different levels tricky at the cottage, however if you are mobile with the aid of support then the downstairs bedroom and bathroom should make it possible to use.

We welcome dogs and assistance dogs to the cottage and offer a pack with bed, bowls and crate if needed.

We also provide high chairs and cots for little ones. Just be aware there are steep drops from the terrace so the cottage may not suit families with crawling babies and toddlers.

If you are keen to access the outdoors or maybe enjoy an in house pamper session then we have a range of experiences that you can book.

We have massage therapists who can come to the cottage to deliver a treatment.

We also have yoga and breath work specialists who can provide your very own private session.

We have teamed up with providers who can provide adapted sessions to access the river on paddle boards, or guided walks on the hills.

If you would prefer not to have to leave the cottage, we can also provide catering packages, from hampers to pizza kits, grazing platters or an in house chef.

We have a free to use crafting box in the cottage. With flower pressing kits, star gazing or sketching equipment. There is a yoga mat and blocks too.
