Where stays become stories: a world away from ordinary

open views from cottages and small cosy spaces.

Space to feel

Where we choose to book to spend our oh so precious holidays need to deliver on the investment you've made to make them happen. We write our family stories on our holidays, and these spaces need to inspire us, as well as invite us to unwind and feel at home, but different.

We can under-estimate the value beyond mere warmth & comfort can offer. Things like the inspiration of art and colour, textures in textiles and feelings that so many sensory triggers like noises, lighting, and smells can evoke in us.

All these elements are what make home, home.  Somewhere which makes you feel at ease when walking through the door. A home that is designed with corners to relax enjoy the views from quiet corners, and escape to the big outdoors from your doorstep.

The space we crave is often a response to how we are feeling in the moment. When I'm feeling a little low and vulnerable, cosy quiet spaces that feel like a hug are what I need - its why so many of us retreat to bed when life is too much.

When I'm stuck on a problem or need space to breathe and shake off the frustrations of life and overwhelm, I get outdoors in big open spaces, where problems are rightfully put in their place, and our minds can wander unhindered.

None of us aspire to ordinary, we want to play out a dream whilst on holiday, living a life for a few days or a week which we carry with us in our every day.

Views that can really heal

We know that being in nature helps us to unwind and helps get everything back in perspective. Which is why spending time in a home with views of nature feel like they heal you.

I literally take a deep breath when walking the woods, or wandering in open fields. Soaking up the view a vast ocean offers or when on top of a hill can help to put my problems into perspective, whilst appreciating the beauty of the world. It sort of puts me in my place in the world and helps to shrink the importance of the stuff that seems to be taking over my brain!

When creating our homes, we consider creating little nooks to sit and soak in a view, small spaces to curl up can make us feel safe which makes them so enticing. Being warm and cosseted from the harshness of weather whilst being able to watch the natural environment is a great de-stresser. It is why our cottages are in unique locations with dreamy views. It's all part of raising our homes to beyond ordinary.

Spaces to make your own stories

Interiors are as unique as humans, and tell your story, whether you're a modernist, minimalist, maximalists or cottage core lover  - how you crate your space will make it unique to you. Holidays are a moment to play out our dreams and experience a new way of living, and taste a lifestyle we don't live say to day. The heart of our design is to create a space which feels like a home which has been curated over time. Filled with fascinating thoughtful interiors curated with love.

There are so many ordinary holiday spaces to book on the market. Full of bland uninspiring interiors, bland colours, wipeable sofas and faux art. They lack authenticity, warmth or a sense of place.

So we've set about creating holiday cottages full of one offs - from lobster crates to leather ledgers, so the interiors feel like no other, yet make you feel at home.

We love what we do, and our collection will always be small and unique, Like any home we re-style and edit our homes so they continue to feel familiar yet current. So that when you arrive, your stories can start to be written adding a new layers of memories to our homes.

A feast for the senses

We want to offer a real feast for your senses, because the noises, smells and textures of a space all trigger memories and emotions in us.

Personally I'm susceptible to smells. An overpowering air freshener can bring on a migraine before I've unpacked the bags. So beyond how our cottages look, we also consider  how they smell, using natural essences to spritz the air, fresh flowers to add the natural connection to the outdoors. The sound of the birds and the waves is enough in our homes,  but we leave a bluetooth speaker if you need to hear your favourite sounds.

We are all so led by our eyes these days, and we often overlook the importance of texture,  from running your hand across a stone wall, or noticing the cool feeling of wood and stone underfoot  Decor like carved wall hangings or mixed fabrics on cushions and throws peaks our interest with these warm textures along with soft lighting from lamps and twinkly lights evokes cosy inviting spaces.

Rewarding your emotional investment

These days we are all hugely invested in our holidays, emotionally. Carving out valuable time and saving precious cash for stays away. Not to mention the energy of planning, co-ordinating calendars, doggie care, and buying outfits.

But the biggest investment is emotional - the anticipation and excitement of looking forward to our holidays, from building itineraries and imagining how you will feel to be there keeps us excited for months.  So when arriving, you want to sigh with happiness and a little relief that all the waiting was worth it, that it lives up to expectations, and start your holiday on a high.

I have that moment in my mind when finishing our cottages. A few stems in the vase, a welcome hamper with tea and cakes, a cool bottle of wine, hot tub ready to jump into and the stage set for you to come and write your holiday stories there.

We would love to hear your stories, though reviews and photo's. We know holidays are your private space, so we don't want to intrude, but maybe little snippet of your stay would help us understand what new chapters you wrote in our homes.
