Where to watch sports action on holiday

This summer of 2024 is rammed with plenty of sporting action. From the Euro's in June to the Olympics in July, and there's the annual Wimbledon action too.

Football or any sprt might not be at the top of your list when venturing on holiday but we recognise that for some, these big events are worth celebrating and part of the national identity.

Here's a few suggestions of where you can share the highs and lows with others, in our cottage destinations and really feel part of the community for your stay.

Pubs and clubs in the Malvern Hills to watch Euros

If you are visiting either of our cottages you won't be short of palces to share big sporting moments.

In the Malvern Hills, Elsie's is on the edge of three counties, so you can choose from pubs in Ledbury, Malvern or Tewkesbury to pop along for the atmosphere of watching a big game or crucial event with others.

Try the Royal Oak at Staplow for a cute little barn decked out in Euro flags to rub shoulders with Herefordians on benches and jars of local beers and ciders.

Or head for Ye Olde Black Bear Inn in Tewesbury, a beautifully restored ancient pub who have added a giant screen outside to watch the summer action. With plenty of picnic tables and as a plus there's a view of the Avon to enjoy whilst you are supping.

If you are heading Malvern direction why not try the Bell Inn, again a great spot in the garden to watch all the action.

If you are more of a club man, why not support grass roots footy and watch at Ledbury   or Malvern Town football clubs, who are both offering big screens, and discounted beers, whats not to like!

Watch a summer of sport in Porthleven

There are plenty of places in the village to share the atmosphere with locals to watch big sporting moments in Porthleven.

Summer in Cornwall is undoubtedly about enjoying the sea, but its a perfect opportunity to mix with Cornish locals and feel part of the crowd.

Try the Smithy at the Ship Inn, a space dedicated to the big screen and other events, and in one of the most iconic Cornish pubs.  Great food and beer and there's always someone to share your thoughts with.

For the more traditional The Harbour inn has cosy corners to watch the footy, in its newly refurbed spaces.

Our favourite spot is definitely the Shoal Brewery - started by the same people who run the Mussel Shoal, it has heart and soul, as well as many locals to brush shoulders with for the action. Get there early if you want a seat. Enjoy a wood-fired pizza and their own brewed beer.

Watch all the sports action in our Cosy cottages

Of course there is no reason you have to venture out.  If you want to make the most of the views, soaking in a hot tub or watching the flames flicker in the fire pit whilst listening to waves crash on the shore, then why not just hole up in one of our cosy sitting rooms and watch your favourite sporting action in the comfort of your cottage.

We admit the screens won't be huge, and the wifi isn't super fast, but you can pour yourself a tipple and when the action is dull just wander outside to enjoy the view.
